Three million Iraqi Shiites condemn Iranian regime, declare support for PMOI (MEK)

NCRI – More than three million Iraqi Shiites signed a declaration calling for eviction of the clerical regime and its agents from Iraq and removal of restrictions imposed on the members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) residing in Ashraf City (home to the members of the PMOI in Iraq).

The declaration which was announced at the fourth annual session of the Solidarity Congress of the Iraqi People described the move as the strategic counterbalance vis-à-vis the Iranian regime's meddling in Iraq.

NCRI – More than three million Iraqi Shiites signed a declaration calling for eviction of the clerical regime and its agents from Iraq and removal of restrictions imposed on the members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) residing in Ashraf City (home to the members of the PMOI in Iraq).

The declaration which was announced at the fourth annual session of the Solidarity Congress of the Iraqi People described the move as the strategic counterbalance vis-à-vis the Iranian regime's meddling in Iraq.

Delegations from Iraqi provinces from across the country presented the historic declaration to Ms. Sediqeh Hosseini, Secretary General of the PMOI, in the gathering that was held in Ashraf and was attended by more than 1,000 representatives of 138 parties as well as political and social associations.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, in a video message, lauded the Congress and admired the great sacrifices of the Iraqi people and the PMOI members in Ashraf City for establishing an everlasting friendship between the two nations. She pointed out that Iraqis are building a democratic and free future void of extremism and fundamentalism for their country.

She added that the slogan of eviction and expulsion of Iranian regime from Iraq had turned into a public slogan for the Iraqi people, and the U.S. ultimately acknowledged that the Iranian regime was the main threat in Iraq.

In her speech, Mrs. Sediqeh Hosseini saluted the initiative of the Iraqi sheikhs' councils, political and guild associations, non-governmental organizations as well as political and influential personalities of the Shiite regions in Iraq for sponsoring the statement.

She also prized the determination of thousands of brave Iraqi men and women who collected the signatures in a remarkable endeavor.
 
Representatives of a number of Iraqi political parties and dignitaries expressed their support for the statement in the event and praised the work done to achieve such a great consensus in Iraq under present circumstance.

Dr. Saleh Mutlaq, leader of the Arabic Front for Iraqi National Dialogue and some members of the Iraqi National Accord Movement attended the event.

Representatives from Conference of Ahal al-Iraq, Islamic Party of Iraq, Iraqi Council for National Dialogue, Iraqi Turkmen Party of Justice, Islamic Unity Party, as well as parliamentarians, tribal sheikhs and political, social and religious personalities where among those attended the Congress.

Mr. Paulo Casaca, Member of the European Parliament and the Co-Chair of the Friends of a Free Iran, also attended the event as a special guest.
