Threatened and beaten, families of political prisoners manage to continue protest in Tehran

NCRI – Relatives of political prisoners incarcerated at Tehran’s notorious Evin prison have staged a gathering in front of the Iranian regime’s prosecutor’s office in protest to inhumane prison conditions and cruel treatment and abuse of political prisoners by regime agents.

On Wednesday morning, as the gathering was being formed, the Iranian regime’s agents started threatening protestors but family members insisted on their demands. The regime’s suppressive forces then attacked demonstrators with batons, beating them and tearing apart pictures of their loved ones.

The families, however, continued their protests in front of the prosecutor’s office despite the brutal attacks by the suppressive forces. The regime’s agents surrounded the scene of the demonstration to prevent other people from joining in. They continued to make threats of arrest against the families, but protestors did not give in and continued with their demonstration.
