The resistance is a peaceful mean to positive change in Iran (Norwegian MP)

NCRI – “The best way to deal with the Iranian regime in my regard is to give to the Iranian Resistance free means to operate, free means towards democratic work to encourage people to take political steps forward to make way for democracy, for freedom,” said Morten Höglund in an international conference in Paris on February, 5.

Not being a lawyer but a simple politician, I will just make few political points. I am wondering regarding this terrorist list what have the Iranian regime done to reserve all this care and defense of the UK and other Council members? What is the background for this? Are we talking about a country which is really shining on the stars of civilized countries? Have they behaved in a way which deserves our attention in a positive way? Or are they at odds or how are they behaving, and how are they treated in other regards, like the Security Council?

They are not trying to improve the behaviors of the mullahs’ regime. They are trying to get them to cooperate. But in this regard, they are giving them something they want. Is there any link between the policies regarding Iran? I don’t see the link. I don’t see the clear leadership at the political level in how they deal with the Iranian regime. In one regard, they are defending the mullahs’ regime and in another regard, they are talking about sanctions.

The best way to deal with the Iranian regime in my regard is to give to the Iranian Resistance free means to operate, free means towards democratic work to encourage people to take political steps forward to make way for democracy, for freedom. And unfortunately, what we see is that the European Council at the moment is not helping and it should be in their interest. It should absolutely be in their interest to do so. How can we explain them this lack of consistency?

We might and I hope not get to the point where the Iranian atomic program becomes very disastrous, where it become a danger. And some people talk about an armed option against Iran, about bombing the atomic facilities. I hope this never becomes necessary. But when they are even talking about this as an option, why they are not using all diplomatic peaceful means? And the resistance is a peaceful mean to positive change in Iran. Instead, they are talking about fighter planes. That will be disastrous. So again, I think we need political leadership in this matter.

We had the pleasure, a few months ago, of receiving Ms Maryam Rajavi to Oslo. It was an excellent opportunity to talk about the Iranian issue which ended extremely well and which gave a positive view of the Iranian Resistance and it showed what’s the mullahs’ regime is all about.

The Iranian ambassador when he learned about the visit came out quite angry, saying this really jeopardize the relationships between Norway and Iran, if there is anything to jeopardize. But it showed the real face. They tried to influence the democratic process in Norway, by saying you should not meet with these persons. And of course the commercial advertisement for that visit was extraordinary and I think the visit was a tremendous success. And it so far isolated the Iranian regime de facto is.

I am very happy that Norway is not following the EU terrorist list, that we don’t have NCRI or of course not the PMOI on our terrorist list. But I will hope that the rest of the Europe will follow soon and I think this is what we must expect and this is the only way to deal with the Iranian situation. Thank you.
