The Mayors of Paris express support for Maryam Rajavi

French mayors have met in Paris to condemn religious extremism and give their support to the Iranian Resistance.

The meeting attended by Iranian Resistance leader Maryam Rajavi on November 25 brought together mayors from across France to show their commitment to the struggle for freedom and democracy in Iran.

Jean-François Legaret, mayor of Paris’s 1st Arrondissment, said: “We, the mayors of France, have solidarity with Maryam Rajavi and the cause of democracy in Iran.  We have a duty to speak out against the threat of Islamic fundamentalism and against the religious dictatorship in Iran seeking to acquire nuclear weapons.

“We are also aware of the risks of radicalization in the Middle East. The government estimates 1,000 young French have joined the jihadists. This is a concern to all of us.

“In Germany, the Ministry of Intelligence and Homeland Security, said that so far this year, there will be more than 7,000 radicalized Muslims in Germany. And the same problems exist in the UK and throughout Europe.

“We must add that missile systems, sites for the production of nuclear power and armed militias are all the creation of the Iranian regime.”

He added: “In France, our government is committed to oppose Islamic radicalism, and we have reached a point where we can not say that Islamic fundamentalism has nothing to do with us.

“The solution can only come from within the Middle East as a humane and cultural solution, based on a tolerant Islam that will fight against these murderous ideologies.

“Iran without the mullahs could be one of the West’s best allies.  The Iranian regime is unstable and today its main source of instability is terrorism and warmongering.

“We have all heard of the repression and barbaric acts in Iran, and in Camps Ashraf and Liberty.  That is why we must fight against all acts of death, cruelty, repression, terrorism, that plague your people, dear Maryam Rajavi, and may this path lead you to the ultimate goal of democracy and freedom.”
