Swiss TV Channel: Third year of Geneva’s longest ever protest begins

NCRI – Iranian dissidents have marked the start of their third year of a continuous sit-in outside the United Nations headquarters in Geneva – the longest ever demonstration in the city’s history, Swiss Leman Bleu TV reported.

Switzerland’s Leman Bleu TV reported: “Despite heavy rain, Iranian demonstrators have held a ceremony to mark the start of their third year of protest in support Ashraf and Camp Liberty residents, which is the longest ever protest in the history of Geneva.

“Last February 9, Camp Liberty was attacked by rockets resulting in the death of 8 and the injury of 100. The residents’ representative has warned of the threat of other attacks.”

Former French hostage Ingrid Betancourt also told the TV channel on April 19: “I believe that the demands of these people who have stood here for two years for the rights of their brothers and sisters will be realized.”

Protesters supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and the Iranian resistance are demanding that the UN carry out the immediate transfer of the residents of Camp Liberty, where they face the risk of more deadly attacks following the February 9 massacre which left eight dead and more than 100 wounded.
