NCRI- The European Parliament Vice-president, Dr. Alejo Vidal-Quadras, in a speech in the gathering of more than 70,000 Iranian exiles in Paris on June 28, 2008 expressed his support for the Iranian Resistance and its President-elect Mrs. Maryam Rajavi.

Text of speech by Dr. Alejo Vidal-Quadras:

Let me first of all salute my brave brothers and sisters in Ashraf City who are fighting for the freedom of their country. They are the men and women who have proven to be genuinely faithful to democracy and freedom. And, they are paying the price for it everyday.

Their sacrifice, their suffering, and their undefeatable commitment to the cause of a free Iran will forever remain in the history of your country. Our hearts beat when their hearts do, and our souls are one with theirs. They are the best example and the best inspirations for us all.

Supporting the PMOI today is not the only part of our political agenda. It is something essential for the defence of our human dignity. Today, we are part of the big family of the Iranian Resistance and this movement. The members of national parliaments and the European Parliament who work on your side for the cause of a free Iran consider themselves as your brothers and sisters, and we are proud of it.

The fact that we are here together in so many thousands proves that there are many millions of others outside this hall and also in Iran who support your movement; This popular movement that your President, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, is leading with such competence and dedication in such difficult times.

I congratulate you, Mrs. President, for your courageous leadership. It is a privilege to serve under your banner.
I also hope that one day I will be able to meet Massoud Rajavi, the historical leader of the PMOI. I know that he has paid a heavy price over the years against the brutal dictatorship that oppresses Iran. I wish him well wherever he is. Our thoughts and our prayers are with him.

Let me conclude by saying that I can see the victory in the glint of your eyes and in your tireless will and commitment. Victory is closer than we think.

I have no doubt that we will win. We will win because our cause is the cause of freedom, justice and truth.
