State of women in Iran discussed in Council of Europe’s group meeting

NCRI – The plight of women under the misogynist rule in Iran was discussed in a meeting with the Committee on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men at the Council of Europe on Tuesday, April 11.

Speaking to a delegation from the committee, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, explained about mullahs’ discriminatory practices against women and gross violations of their rights which are being institutionalized by the religious dictatorship in Iran. Mrs. Rajavi also highlighted the role of women in the leadership of the Iranian Resistance and their achievements.

President-elect of the Iranian Resistance told the meeting about the activities of the movement inside Iran and plans for democratic change in that country.

Members of the Council of Europe’s committee on equal opportunities expressed their sympathy with the Iranian women and emphasized the need for greater cooperation with the Iranian Resistance’s women’s committee.

Mrs. Rajavi was accompanied by Ms. Sarvnaz Chitsaz, Chair of the NCRI’s Committee on Women, Ms. Dowlat Nowrouzi and Ms. Fereshteh Bolourchi, NCRI’s representatives in the UK and Germany in this meeting.
