Solution to Iran problem lies on Iranians and their resistance – Norwegian MP

Solution to Iran problem lies on Iranians and their resistance - Norwegian MPNCRI – Morten Hoglund, member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Norwegian Parliament addressed the gathering of 30,000 supporters of the Iranian Resistance in Paris on Saturday. He started his speech by greeting People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran based in Ashraf city in Iraq and continued as follows:

Your magnificent presence here is a proof that the Iranian Resistance enjoys the international support for bringing a democratic change in Iran, an ancient land which is rich in culture, rich in human values and thirsty of freedom.

The Iranian regime’s insistence on acquiring nuclear bomb and ignoring the entire civilized world’s warnings not to continue in the same course coupled with its meddling in Iraqi affairs has pushed the world to the brink of a major catastrophe.

At home the mullahs’ regime to date has either hanged or sentence to death nearly 270 people many of whom hanged in public. A record not matched by any other nation in the world.

To overcome this international challenge, there are not very many options on the table. Certainly, neither a military intervention nor an appeasement policy is the solution; there is a single and practical third option which is supported by most Iranians, the option introduced by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran a democratic change with the Iranian people and its resistance.

Last week some 5.2 million Iraqi citizen from all walks of life, political parties, jurists, lawyers, professors, tribal leaders, women’s rights activists, and others have pledged their support to the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran as the bulwark to the Iranian regime’s spread of fundamentalism in Iraq and in the region.

Despite all the facts stated above, the western governments are siding with the mullahs’ regime instead of the Iranian Resistance by playing into its hands. The verdict by the appeals court in France on June 16 proved that the members of the Iranian Resistance who were implicated in June 17, 2003 were all innocent of all charges of terrorism against them. It is a testament to the fact that by the same logic the terror tag on the PMOI is nothing but a “positive” gesture towards mullahs’ regime in Tehran.

The international community should not lend the mullahs’ regime any more time in its quest for atomic bomb. Instead a firm policy with comprehensive sanctions is the sole solution to this catastrophic situation.
