Solidarity with Iranian transport workers

Solidarity with Iranian transport workersNCRI – The Committee of the Iranian-Dutch Drivers, supporters of the Iranian Resistance expressed its solidarity with transport workers in Iran who have been on strike for the past few weeks.

International labor organizations called Wednesday a day of solidarity with Iranian transport workers which included the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU) and the Consulting Committee of the Workers Union of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). They had called on all labor organizations and union workers across the world to hold protest rallies to express their support with the demands of their Iranian counter parts.

A delegation of Iranian-Dutch lorry drivers visited Dutch Interior Ministry, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Dutch Parliament to submit their demands to the authorities urging them to act immediately in support of the Iranian workers who are brutally suppressed by current fundamentalist regime in Iran.

The clerical authorities in Iran have arrested several dozens of transport workers in Tehran in recent weeks. In an attempt to break their resolve, families of the strikers have not been spared and their wives and children have been taken to prisons and beaten up.

In an appeal to international labor organizations Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the NCRI called for their intervention to secure release of the striking workers and their families.

General Secretary of the Dutch Labor Organization, Ms. Agnes Jongerius, also condemned suppression of workers in Iran by ruling religious dictatorship in that country and called for immediate release of imprisoned workers.
