Regime punishes political prisoners for holding memorial for Ali Saremi(Sarami)

NCRI – Iranian regime torturers at Gohardasht prison have banned political prisoners there from going to the prison yard and threatened them with opening new cases against them in reaction to the prisoners’ decision to hold a memorial ceremony for their executed cellmate, Ali Saremi.

Mr. Ali Saremi, 62, was imprisoned by the clerical regime for visiting his son, Akbar, in Camp Ashraf, Iraq, where 3,400 members of the main opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) reside. In a barbaric act on Tuesday, the mullahs executed Mr. Saremi, who had spent a total of 24 years in prison.

According to Iran Khabar on Thursday, Mansour Osanlou, the imprisoned leader of the Greater Tehran Bus Drivers Union, and other cellmates of Mr. Saremi, were summoned to the prison intelligence office for holding a memorial ceremony in his honor.

Following lengthy interrogation sessions, the political prisoners were threatened with new charges.

But, according to reports, Mr. Saremi’s former cellmates stood firm against the threats and said holding a memorial ceremony for one of their own is their right.
