“The dark days for Iran will come to an end and the sun will shine again” – Lord Russel-Johnst

Lord Russel-Johnston, on July 1st, at a huge gathering of 30,000 Iranians near Paris in support of Maryam RajaviNCRI – “On the 10th of the April I had the honor and the pleasure of inviting Mrs. Rajavi to speak to the Liberal group within the Council of Europe in Strasbourg”, recalled Lord Russel Johnston, former chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. On July 1st, he attended a huge gathering of 30,000 Iranians near Paris to renew his support to the Iranian Resistance and its president-elect.

With the Iranian Resistance and with Mrs. Rajavi whose dedication and courage I salute! VIVA MARYAM!

Yours is a battle for the freedom of the Iranian people from the dictatorship of an extraordinarily repressive regime, a dictatorship posing as religious but as all my good Muslim friends tell me – stifling the essential generosity of spirit which resides in the heart of Islam.

It was I think highly significant that the Iranian Regime has just appointed Mortazavi to its delegation to the United Nations! In Iran he has been “the butcher of the press” but, worse still, as prosecutor general, has been responsible for manipulation of the law for persecution and Torture. It was he three years ago who oversaw the Torture and cruel death in captivity of the Canadian Iranian photo – Journalist Zahra Kazemi.

It is perhaps right that a bad government be represented by a bad man. A government which stole power in a deeply – flawed election and maintains it by force. Last year there were 4000 protests more, all ruthlessly put down.

I am ashamed; I am ashamed that the response of the democracies including my own has been so poor. But at least we can not only speak out criticism, we can shout it aloud! And we do! And we will! And at last, I see change coming.

On the 10th of the April I had the honor and the pleasure of inviting Mrs. Rajavi to speak to the Liberal group within the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. I would emphasize It was not a narrow party political effort. Friends from conservative, socialist and Christian Democrat, also friends came to give very warm welcomes and that I think it was a indicative change that we are seeing.

In recent days, I mean literally in the past couple of days, we have seen in the newspapers, in France, in United Kingdom and other countries a statement signed by 234 members of parliament from all over Europe making a public statement of support for freedom of you, the Iranian Resistance, the Iranian people and Mrs. Rajavi.

Interestingly in the UK, the Lord Carlisle who the government has trusted to be the independent voice to review terrorist legislation, asked that the proscription of PMOI be reviewed and that too is a change, a change due long past time.

In Iraq 1/3 of the eligible voters have signed a petition saying the same thing. Ashraf out there may be tiny but its influence is huge, its power to influence is mighty.
Freedom cannot be crushed, might be crushed for the time, but the love for it never dies.

Mrs. Rajavi, you will succeed no doubt about that. The dark days for Iran will come to an end and the sun will shine again.
