NCRI – Supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI, or MEK) inside Iran have held ceremonies to mark the second anniversary of the massacre of Iranian dissidents in Camp Liberty, Iraq.

Commemorative ceremonies by families of PMOI martyrs and their supporters were held last week in Tehran and Qazvin, north-west of the Iranian capital.

Stories were shared in each gathering about the brave 52 PMOI members who were martyred in Camp Ashraf.

Supporters of the PMOI (or Mujahedin-e Khalq) have also attached posters in memory of the 52 martyrs on sidewalls, phone booths and other public areas in Iranian cities.

September 1 marked the second anniversary of the 2013 Camp Ashraf massacre. Fifty two unarmed and defenseless Iranian dissidents, all members of Iran’s main opposition group, the PMOI (MEK), were slaughtered and another group of seven, including six women, were abducted by Iraqi forces at the behest of the regime in Iran.

Then-Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Maliki’s military forces had executed many residents with their hands tied behind their backs, execution-style, during the September 1, 2013 massacre. Wounded residents, all of who were ‘protected persons’ under the Fourth Geneva Convention and were “guaranteed” protection by the U.S. and U.N., were shot dead in the camp’s clinic.

Numerous Iranian political prisoners, including Ali Moezi, have in recent days sent messages from Iran’s notorious prisons in commemoration of the second anniversary of the Camp Ashraf massacre.

Over the past two years, Iranian opposition leader Mrs. Maryam Rajavi has repeatedly called on the UN Secretary-General and the High Commissioner for Human Rights to conduct an independent and comprehensive investigation into the September 1 massacre and to bring the culprits to justice and not to allow Nuri Maliki and Ali Khamenei (the Iranian regime’s Supreme Leader) to cover up this great crime against humanity.
