Personnel of Iranian Mojahedin must be given political asylum in Iraq – British MP

Personnel of Iranian Mojahedin must be given political asylum in Iraq – British MPNCRI – Following the terrorist bombing of a passenger bus carrying workers going to Ashraf City where People’s Mojahedin of Iran is based, the British MP Brian Binley wrote to the UN Secretary General condemning the attack and called for his action. Copies of his letter was also sent to the US President George Bush, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and the Iraqi President and Foreign Minister. Text of his letter is as follows:

"It is with deep regret that I write having heard this morning of a bus explosion near the town of Khalis, North East of Baghdad killing 13 and wounding countless others.

"This bus, carrying commuters traveling to work in Camp Ashraf (the residence of the PMOI in Iraq) was blown up by terrorist agents of the Iranian regime. The Iranian regime has always aimed to destroy its main opposition, and now seeks to retaliate against those brave Iraqi’s who support the People’s Mojahedin in their resistance against the tyrants and terrorists in Tehran.

"I ask that you join me in condemning this barbarity. Furthermore, I ask that protection and security be stepped up immediately in order to prevent the Iranian regime from further atrocities in the region. As protected persons under the fourth Geneva Convention, PMOI personnel must be given political asylum in Iraq and I ask that you do everything in your power to ensure this is done forthwith."
