NCRI – On Tuesday supporters of the National Council of Resistance (NCRI) in Berlin held a demonstration against the Iranian regime outside the German Foreign Ministry as foreign ministers of the five permanent Security Council members and Germany gathered to talk about Iran’s nuclear program.
The demonstrators called for "UN sanctions against the mullahs" and carried placards reading "No Nukes to the Mullahs".
Iranian exiles also protested against violations of human rights in Iran. An Iranian woman symbolically dressed up as a victim of death by stoning while four demonstrators stood in striped prison outfits with ropes around their necks in front of a scaffold to protest against public hangings carried out in Iran.

Shireen, a 42-year-old teacher from Tehran who had joined the protest, told a journalist that Iranian people do not want nuclear as they believe there is enough oil in Iran to provide energy for a century. "The mullahs have not developed the capacity to refine oil for domestic consumption and the country suffers from severe shortages of petroleum products, yet, it is pressing for so-called nuclear energy," said Shireen.

Mardani, a former civil servant in Iran, said that Iran has had highest oil revenue in its history but 70 percent of the people live under poverty line according to government analysis. "Iran’s wealth is in the hands of the mullahs’ Revolutionary Guards spent on suppressing dissent in the country and funding terrorism abroad. A comprehensive sanction on the regime would hurt the regime more than it would the people as they do not get any share of the country’s wealth anyway," Mardani said. He emphasized that people welcome any harm against the regime as it is hated by everybody and to this end they welcome UN sanctions because the wealth of the country would not be wasted on arms, nuclear weapons, terrorism and killing people inside and outside the country.

The demonstration in Berlin was warmly welcomed by Berliners and many joined the protest or expressed their solidarity with the Iranian people and their resistance against the ruling dictatorship.
