NCRI representative says the trend of diplomatic defections in Iran will increase

KhazaiNCRI – After a string of diplomatic defections in the Iranian regime, Mr. Parviz Khazai  former Iranian diplomat and current member of the main Iranian opposition said the defections were not surprising. He said he expects to see more people willing to leave the regime’s ranks and seek asylum elsewhere.

Recently, Farzad Farhangian, a former Iranian regime diplomat in Brussels, sought asylum in Norway.

On Tuesday, Mr. Parviz Khazai of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), who quit as a diplomat and joined the Iranian opposition’s ranks in Oslo in 1982, told the US nationwide Radio that the diplomats who recently defected “see no future for the regime. That is why they are distancing themselves from it before it is too late.”

According to the radio, Mr. Khazai now represents the NCRI in Nordic countries. He said it is not surprising that the regime’s diplomatic ranks are shrinking and the trend will increase in the future.
