NCRI – On November 6, despite pressures by the mullahs’ regime, Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, arrived at Oslo Airport, Norway, where she was welcomed by numerous parliamentarians, political and religious personalities, and Iranians living in this country.

Mrs Rajavi was invited by parliamentarians from four parties and the Committee for a Free Iran to address the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Norwegian Parliament.

Parliamentarians from the Progress, Conservative, Left Socialist and Liberal parties, religious personalities, advocates of human rights and hundreds of Iranians residing in Oslo came to welcome her upon her arrival at the airport.

The daily Verdens Gang reported on November 5 that by “reacting with harsh protests and threats, the Iranian regime shows its true nature. These reactions are due to the fact that the mullahs, despite all their efforts to destroy the opposition, were not able to defeat the National Council of the Resistance of Iran and that they see it as a serious threat”. The daily added, “In 2002, this organization revealed that the Iranian regime was carrying out secret activities to enrich uranium, which was confirmed afterwards; and up until now the UN Security Council has been deliberating the imposition of  sanctions on Iran’s atomic program. This summer, she gathered 10,000 of her supporters from all over Europe and stated that what Iran needed was not nuclear power, but a secular democracy”.

The Norwegian TV channel TV2 reported: “The leader of the Iranian opposition, Maryam Rajavi, who arrived in Oslo a few hours ago called on Norway and other European countries to impose comprehensive sanctions on the ruling regime in Iran. Rajavi sees no hope in the ‘policy of dialogue’ with the Iranian regime. Maryam Rajavi, leader and heroine of the Iranian Resistance, was warmly and jovially welcomed by Iranians at the airport in Oslo. Constantly threatened with death by the Iranian regime, she is not surprised that the embassy issued a warning to Norwegian officials that she is due to meet tomorrow”.
