Maryam Rajavi: Upcoming presidential election in Iran is “a new farce”

Maryam RajaviNCRI – At a press conference in Paris on March 4, Maryam Rajavi spoke on the future electoral show in Iran. She said, "It's a new farce." These elections are meaningless. She said that Whatever the outcome, it is under the supervision of the mullahs' Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, reported Agene France Press (AFP).

"Khamenei has thrown his support behind Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Although, he calls Mohammad Khatami [former mullahs' president from 1997 to 2005] into the political game but we know that he is a burned card," she said.

Mrs. Rajavi reiterated that in her view Ahmadinejad wanted a "war". "The third world war will occur because the mullahs' regime wants war to consolidate its power in the world," AFP reported.

Asked about the possibility of an Israeli intervention to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, Mrs. Rajavi said that there was "a third option." "We must stress on the need that the international community ceases its policy of appeasement toward Tehran and implement a firm policy by supporting the Iranian Resistance."
