Maryam Rajavi presses for tough measures on Iran regime

NCRI – In an interview published on March 4 in the German daily Die Welt, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance said: "Although referring Iran’s nuclear file to the UN Security Council is an essential step, but other steps must immediately be put into effect. Such steps could include an oil embargo, restrictions on weapons, technology and diplomatic ties."

Mrs. Rajavi also called for an international investigation into mullahs’ atrocities against Iranian people and its terrorist activities outside Iran. She also pressed for removal of the PMOI, the main Iranian opposition, from the EU’s terror list.

In the Die Welt interview published under the title, "West’s Crackdown on the theocratic fascism in Iran is essential, so far as they rule my country", the Iranian resistance’s President-elect emphasized: "Eventhough the year 2006 could turn into a year of growing crises with Iran’s ruling fundamentalist regime, but the adoption of a proper policy could bring positive changes to Iran this year. Time is running out."

Pointing out the failure of appeasement policy, Mrs. Rajavi reiterated: "A foreign war is not the correct alternative to appeasement, but a natural extension of that. There is still a third option available. If we exploit the last opportunities, we still have time to avert a catastrophe."

"Democratic change in Iran is only possible through Iranian people and their resistance," she concluded.
