Maryam Rajavi briefed Euro MPs on Iran

NCRI – President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, addressed a conference in the European Parliament in Brussels on Tuesday, December 18.

Mrs. Rajavi briefed the MEPs on the latest developments in Iran, status of Iranian opposition and advancement of the "third option" for democratic change in Iran.

Referring to the judgment of the Proscribed Organisations Appeal Commission (POAC) of November 30th which concluded that the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK) was not concerned in terrorism, Mrs. Rajavi said, “The political and judicial implications of the judgment shocked many. While supporters of the Resistance are happy, the Iranian regime and its allies were disappointed."

Mrs. Rajavi expressed her gratitude to 35 courageous members of the British Parliament who put up a remarkable fight against their own government in the interest of justice and truth. "In the western world, they are pioneers of the right policy", she said.

"Their efforts alongside the Iranian Resistance are a unique example of solidarity between democratic personalities in a European country and the Iranian people against religious fascism", she added.

In the conference that was chaired by Mr. Paulo Casaca, Portuguese member of the European Parliament and the Co-Chair of the Friends of a Free Iran inter-parliamentary committee, Lord Slynn of Hadley, the former Judge of the European Court of Justice, Professor Eric David, professor of international law in Brussels University, Vytautas Landsbergis, former president of Lithuania, Jean Spautz, former parliament speaker of Luxemburg, Brian Binley, British MP; Struan Stevenson, Vice-President of the EPP-ED Group and a number of other distinguished Euro MPs addressed the meeting.
