Lord Slynn of Hadley, great defender of rights and justice passed away

NCRI – With great sorrow we learnt that Lord Slynn of Hadley passed away on Tuesday late afternoon after a long battle with cancer.

The Right Honourable Gordon Slynn, Baron Slynn of Hadley, GBE, PC, QC, former judge of the European Court of Justice and Lord of Appeal in Ordinary, headed the legal campaign for the Iranian Resistance which eventually led to the removal of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) from the British and EU’s blacklists. He was a staunch defender of the rights of Camp Ashraf residents and stood by their rights in every quarter.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, expressed her deep condolences to Lady Slynn, Members of both Houses of the British Parliament, members and supporters of the Iranian Resistance and in particular Camp Ashraf residents, members of the PMOI in Iraq.

In her message to Lady Slynn she gave her warmest sympathy and assured that she deeply shares her grief.

Mrs. Rajavi described Lord Slynn as a man who truly responded in the best manner to the voice of his conscience.

She reiterated that the battle for justice will always remember his name and his departure is a heavy burden to bear.

Concluding her message, Mrs. Rajavi emphasized that the memory of Lord Slynn, his humanist message and unique desire for justice would strengthen the resolve of the Iranian Resistance to bring about democratic change in Iran.
