Kurdish Iraqi MP asks the Iraqi government to respect EP resolution on the PMOI

NCRI – Youssef Ahmad Poshtvan, a member of the Iraqi Parliament from the Kurdish block, declared that Iraq must respect a European Parliament resolution and other international agreements when it comes to the issue of presence of the main Iranian opposition, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), in Iraq, an Arab-language website wrote on Saturday.

The lawmaker was quoted as saying: Iraq is obligated to implement international agreements because it is an influential member of the international community.

The Iraqi4all website also wrote: Youssef Ahmad Poshtvan told the media in response to a question on the consequences of the EP resolution supporting residents of Ashraf City, Iraq, where about 3,500 PMOI members reside, that he welcomes the resolution, adding: Iraq is an independent and sovereign country and can freely make its own decisions. It is obligated to respect international conventions, agreements, and treaties.
