Iraqi government should recognize status of Iranian Mojahedin – Swedish MP

NCRI – In a message to a gathering at Ashraf City, north of Baghdad, home to members of the People’s Mojahedin of Iran, to announce the support of 5.2 million Iraqis for the PMOI, Swedish MP Ulrike Lindgren from the Christian Democratic Party announced that he had urged the Iraqi government to reaffirm the rights of Ashraf City residents as political refugees. The following is the text of his message:

"I have been informed of your great gathering in the city of Ashraf in support of the Mojahedin and their presence in Iraq.

"I ask the new government of Iraq to recognize the political refugee status of the Mojahedin.

"The Iranian regime is responsible for the killing of innocent Iraqi’s and for many terrorist activities there especially in the southern parts of the country.  I condemn these activities and ask the new government to take immediate action to take necessary measures to stop these activities.

"I would also like to express my complete support of your statement in solidarity with the Mojahedin and condemn the terrorist bombing of the bus carrying Ashraf workers that took the lives of a dozen innocent people. The identities of the parties responsible for this criminal act should immediately be revealed to the public.

"I also urge the government of Iraq to act, consistent with international and Iraqi law, in reaffirming the rights of Ashraf City residents as political refugees, something to which they have been entitled since 20 years ago."
