Iranians rally outside British Foreign Office – day 27

NCRI – The Anglo-Iranian communities in Greater London came together once again outside the British Foreign Office for the 27th day of their sit-in, demanding that the British Government de-proscribe the People’s Mojahedin Organisation of Iran (PMOI).

NCRI – The Anglo-Iranian communities in Greater London came together once again outside the British Foreign Office for the 27th day of their sit-in, demanding that the British Government de-proscribe the People’s Mojahedin Organisation of Iran (PMOI).

The indefinite sit-in, now on its 27th day, has seen Anglo-Iranian community leaders and human rights activists protesting outside both the Foreign Office and Downing Street with the aim of urging the British Government to respect the rule of law.

The sit-in has been frequented by Members of Parliament from across the political spectrum including the ruling Labour Party.

“We want justice, we want peace, we want Mojahedin off the list”, the Iranians chanted as they held banners denouncing the EU’s decision to continue to blacklist the PMOI.

“I find it deeply shameful that the British Government has so far refused to take concrete action to award the PMOI their legal rights”, said Hoda Hosseini, a London medical student and member of the Anglo-Iranian Youth Association.

“Our message is loud and clear”, she said. “The EU must respect the European Court verdict”.

In an unambiguous ruling on 12 December 2006, the European Court of Justice annulled the EU’s decision to blacklist the PMOI. At the urging of the British Government, the EU has thus far refused to implement the Court verdict.
