Iranians in Canada call for protection of PMOI rights in Iraq

Iranians in Toronto call for protection of PMOI rights in IraqNCRI – Iranians residing in Canada joined the international protest against mullahs’ meddling in Iraq and its pressures on the Iraqi authorities to repatriate members of its main opposition, PMOI, to Iran.

Supporters of the Iranian Resistance in Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal staged rallies on Friday to express their outrage against reports indicating that the Iraqi Prime Minister was considering repatriation of PMOI members to Iran or a third country in violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention which offers them international protection. The announcement by the Iraqi PM was seen as part of the clerical dictatorship’s pressures on authorities in that country to impose further restrictions on PMOI in Iraq.

Iranian regime finds the PMOI as the main obstacle to its expansionist ambitions in Iraq. On Tuesday, July 18, the water pipelines from the Tigris River to Ashraf City, home to thousands of PMOI members in Iraq, was blown up. Subsequent investigation of the surrounding areas, it became clear that the agents of the mullahs’ regime were directly involved. The pipeline explosions occurred 15 kilometers west of Ashraf.

Protestors called for reaffirmation of PMOI members’ political status in Iraq as they have been residing in that country for some 20 years.

Similar rallies in Europe, United States and Australia have been held to stop mullahs’ regime ominous plans in Iraq. The protests are to continue until PMOI rights are respected and protected.
