Iranian regime displays fear of PMOI (MEK) influence in meetings with Western diplomats

NCRI – The head of the Iranian regime’s parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy committee has expressed his anger at ‘European countries’ support for the PMOI’ in the latest admission of fear by the regime over the rising public support for the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) opposition movement.

The Iranian regime’s Press TV reported how Alaeddin Boroujerdi protested to Italian senator Ettore Rosato in Tehran.

Complaints by Iranian officials in diplomatic meetings is not a new phenomenon, and has been a constant part of their encounters with Western diplomats, as was revealed in WikiLeaks documents. But the anti-PMOI campaign has intensified in recent months.

Marietje Schaake who visited Iran in March as a member of the European Parliament told a conference at the Atlantic Council on March 26: “It was remarkable that in each and every meeting that we had, we were criticized as Europeans because there are some members of our parliament who meet the MEK, and it was clearly a very sensitive issue…There was real concern on Iranian side for such meetings taking place.” Click here to download the video

On April 3, the European Parliament adopted a moderately critical resolution on violations of human rights in Iran on Iran causing a hysterical and unprecedented hostile reaction from the mullah’s regime.

Many Iranian government officials, including Alaeddin Boroujerdi have mounted relentless attacks on the EU, questioning why the European Parliament has dared to include human rights violations and the anti-democratic behavior of the regime of Iran in the on-going nuclear discussions.

On April 9, and Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, delivered a speech at a high level conference at the Brussels headquarters of the parliament attended by scores of senior MEPs.

The anger expressed to diplomats goes hand in hand with anti-PMOI disinformation campaign inside the country and repressive measures against the political prisoners, particularly those supporting the PMOI.

On April 17, A large number of the clerical regime’s suppressive forces raided the ward 350 of notorious Evin Prison, savagely beating up and insulting the prisoners. The excuse for the raid was inspecting the ward.

Ward 350 is the ward of political prisoners in Evin Prison, including those who are imprisoned on the charges of affiliation with the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). Amnesty International condemned the raid in a call for Urgent Action on April 17.

The assailants were particularly focused on prisoners charged with being affiliated to the PMOI/MEK, severely beating a wounding a number of them.
