Iranians in Paris condemn 1988 massacre and demands justice for guilty mullahs

NCRI – Protesters gathered on Sturday in Paris to condemn the massacre of 30,00 political prisoners in Iran 25 years ago, and called on the United Nations to bring those responsible to justice.

The opponents of the regime also denounced the role of the Iranian regime’s new president Hassan Rouhani and his new justice minister Mostafa Pour-Mohammadi.

The mass gathering at the Place du Trocadero on Saturday urged the UN’s Commissioner for Human Rights, the Council for Human Rights and the Special Rapporteur on human rights in Iran to form a commission to investigate the 1988 massacre and refer it to the UN Security Council.

In July 1988, Ruhallah Khomenei, issuined a fatwa that stated: “The prisoners who insisted and continue to insist on their position and support Monafeqin (a derogatory term for the People ‘s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK)) are mohareb (enemies of God ) and are sentenced to death. If the person at any stage maintains its support for Monafeqin (PMOI), the sentence is execution. Annihilate the enemies of Islam immediately. “

‘Death Committees’ were then formed across the country that led to the execution of 30,000 political prisoners, most of whom were activists of the PMOI who refused to renounce their commitments.

While war criminals from World War II are still at large, those responsible for the massacre of 1988 are still among the highest officials of the Iranian regime and continue to use the term ‘mohareb’ as a tool for judicial sentences death against dissidents.

Bringing to justice those responsible for this terrible crime is essential to for the repetition of the UN. The international community has a clear responsibility to do justice in this case.
