Iranian community in Sweden joins forces in favor of Resistance

Iranian community in Sweden joins forces in favour of the ResistanceNCRI – Some two hundred Iranians gathered in support of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran on Saturday, October 14 in Gothenburg, Sweden. They strongly condemned Iranian regime’s threats to the PMOI members residing in Ashraf City, Iraq.

NCRI’s representative in Nordic countries, Parviz Khaza’i, thanked the participants for their support to the Iranian Resistance and reminded that the sit-in outside the UNHCR’s headquarters in Geneva calling for reaffirmation of the PMOI’s political refugee status in Iraq had entered its 75th day.

Other speakers at the rally included representatives of the Iranian Youth Association, Association of Iranian Women in Gothenburg and Association of Iranian Academics. They strongly condemned pressures exerted by the mullahs’ regime on the Iraqi government to impose further restrictions on residents of Ashraf City and its conspiracies to expel them from Iraq.

At the end of the gathering the participants adopted a declaration which called on the UNHCR and the International Committee of the Red Cross to intervene and guarantee the rights of the PMOI members in Ashraf as protected persons under the Fourth Geneva Convention.
