Iran: Student sit-in protest in Qazvin International University

NCRI – Over 500 students in Qazvin International University in the city of Qazvin to the West of Tehran staged a sit-in on Monday calling for the resignation of the University president, Hassan Qafouri-Fard. Students threw their steel plates on the ground in the middle of where they gathered.

By chanting "University is not military garrison" and "Incompetent president resign resign" the students said that they would not end their sit-in unless the president came to them and listened to their grievances and was answerable to their problems.

Qafouri-Fard refused to meet the students and in a message to them he said that he would never see them. The university guards prevented reporters to reach students.

The students continued their protest till night and when Qafouri-Fard tried to leave the university, accompanied by his bodyguards, students booed him and followed him into the city attracting public attention and support.

Students continue with their protest.
