The statement by the European states expressed "serious concern" over the state of human rights in particular "the general increase in executions" in Iran.
In recent weeks the state-run media in Iran have reported many cases of executions including a woman and a death sentence against a 17-year-old boy.
In the meantime the political prisoners in Iran are facing imminent threat of executions specially those affiliated to the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran. Valiollah Feiz-Mahdavi has already received his death warrant and is set to be executed on May 16. There has been a worldwide campaign to save his life and as it is drawing closer concerns are rising over his plight.
