Iran regime’s lobby against PMOI (MEK) condemned by four major Iraqi parties

Leader of four major Iraqi partiesNCRI – The Coordination Committee of the Iraqi Nationalist Parties consisting of four Iraqi parties, Conference of Ahal al-Iraq, Iraqi National Accord Movement, Iraqi Dialogue Front and Iraqi National Dialogue Council, condemned the unprecedented reaction of the Iranian regime’s lobby in Iraqi Parliament regarding the declaration of three million Iraqi Shiites.

In their statement they called on the Multi National Force-Iraq (MNF-I) and the Iraqi Prime Minister to neutralize the aggression of the Iranian regime’s lobby against the Iraqi nationalist forces and the Iranian opposition group, the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK), for their support to the Iraqi Shiites.

On June 14, during a session of the Iraqi Solidarity Congress held in Ashraf City, a declaration signed by three million Iraqi Shiites was made public which denounced the clerical regime's meddling in Iraq and called for its eviction. The Iraqi Shiites also expressed support to the PMOI and its stay in Iraq as an anti-fundamentalist force opposed to the mullahs.

The following is the English translation of the statement by the Coordination Committee of the Iraqi Nationalist Parties:

We condemn Iran’s lobby attack against nationalist forces

Yesterday, in an unprecedented reaction to the declaration of three million Iraqi Shiites who had expressed their abhorrence against the Iranian regime’s meddling in Iraq and had called for the closure of the regime’s embassy in Baghdad, Iran’s lobby in the Iraqi parliament launched a propaganda and threatening campaign against the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran and Iraqi nationalist forces for their support to this brave and patriotic action, and pressured the Iraqi government to join them.

The people of Iraq were surprised because during all these years that hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis have been victimized by the Iranian regime, these individuals had never raised such a tumult and had never objected to the Iranian regime.

The Coordination Committee of the Iraqi Nationalist Parties also expresses its regret for the statement issued under the name of the Iraqi government spokesman and under the above-mentioned lobby against the nationalist forces.

It also reminds the obligation of all governmental entities to the law, especially the International Law, and warns against misusing such statements by “terrorist gangs”, because the members of the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran are protected persons under the Fourth Geneva Convention and the international law.

The Coordination Committee of the Iraqi Nationalist Parties asks all relevant international organizations, the MNF-I and the Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to investigate these remarks and to neutralize the pressures originated from the Iranian regime.
