Iran: Political prisoner transferred to another prison, will face more pressure

Hamid HaeriNCRI – A political prisoner has been transferred from the Evin Prisons in Tehran to Gohardasht Prison in Karaj. The transfer of Hamid Haeri, 60, is aimed to impose more pressure and restrictions against him.

Haeri is a former prisoner in the 1980s and has suffered two heart attacks. He was last imprisoned since December 2009 and was detained as he was recovering from injuries he received after a severe car crash.

Mr. Haeri was arrested for visiting his son and brother in Camp Ashraf, where members of the main Iranian opposition reside. On May 19, the clerical regime set up a kangaroo court and sentenced Mr. Haeri to 15 years in jail.
