NCRI – A political prisoner on death row has been transferred from Oroumieh prison by the Iranian regime, apparently in anticipation of his hanging, Herana news agency reported on Sunday.
The clerical dictatorship has also sentenced a number of people and political activists arrested during the 2009 uprising to long-term prison sentences.
One of them, Ehsan Abdeh-Tabrizi, a PhD student from Britain’s Durham University, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for “insulting” the mullahs’ Supreme Leader.
The Iranian regime has also sentenced a workers’ rights activist, Behnam Ebrahimzadeh, to 20 years in prison on charges of “acting against national security.”
A female political prisoner has also been sentenced to 10 years in prison. Qadrieh Qaderi was arrested last summer by the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).
