Iran mullah’s pathetic appeasers in the European Parliament – Part II

European delegations misguided by the mullahs in Iran

British delegation after returning from Tehran visit: “We were struck by the number of times that the Iranians wanted to raise the issue of what they call the MKO terrorist organization”

NCRI – The mullahs’ regime continues to sustain an extensive and costly campaign in the context of which it takes some European parliamentary delegations to Iran and exposes them to brazen misinformation and prearranged meetings with well-known intelligence agents and broken down prisoners masked as “former members of the PMOI.” The regime’s aim from such tactics is to obtain the votes of these delegations against the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and the Iranian Resistance in various European institutions.

Last November, a delegation headed by Mike Gapes, chairman of the British Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, traveled to Iran on the invitation of the Iranian regime’s parliament (Majlis).

The state-run Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), on November 21, 2007, revealed the goal of the Iranian regime from such invitations, saying,

“The members and chairman of the British Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee were invited to Iran by the Islamic Consultative Assembly. They met and spoke with a number of victims of terrorism at the Edalat Association, in order to be informed of the terrorist nature and activities of the Monafeqin (hypocrites).”

Monafeqin is the term used by the Iranian regime to describe the main Iranian opposition the PMOI.

According to the Iranian regime’s news reports, on November 28, 2007, the British delegation also met with a number of broken down prisoners, who are now serving the regime at the Nejat Society in Tehran. The regime’s goal from organizing such meetings is to vilify and discredit the PMOI.

After returning from Iran, Mr. Gapes, while questioning Dr. Kim Howells, Minister for the Middle East, during a parliamentary hearing on November 28, 2007, exposed the Iranian regime’s intentions from organizing such trips:

“When we went to Iran I certainly and I think my colleagues, were struck by the number of times that the Iranians wanted to raise the issue of what they call the MKO terrorist organisation or clique or some other term of that kind to a level of almost of obsession that it was on their program, they wanted us to talk about it and they raised it in lots of different contexts.”

The regime has failed in its attempts to tarnish the image of the main Iranian opposition every time that a parliamentary delegation visited Iran primarily due to its medieval and dictatorial nature. In these attempts the regime has always ended up having adverse results.
