Political prisoner Arjang Davoudi in a coma
NCRI – The health of a political prisoner in Iran’s Gohardasht prison has deteriorated rapidly after a 48 day hunger strike, according to obtained reports on Monday. Arjang Davoudi is now in a coma but the clerical regime is preventing access to medical treatment for the political prisoner. Prison authorities have reportedly left him on a stretcher in Gohardasht prison’s Ward 3 hallway.
Mr. Davoudi was arrested in November 2003. Sixteen months later, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison and 74 lashes at the regime’s so-called Revolutionary Court by a judge identified as Haddad.
During his prison term, Mr. Davoudi was exiled to various prisons, first from the notorious Evin Prison in Tehran to Bandar Abbas prison and later to Gohardasht, where he is currently held among regular criminals and dangerous inmates in Ward 4.
On July 30, the regime banned family visits with Mr. Davoudi on his eighth day of hunger strike. A week later, his health began to deteriorate rapidly.
Student protests at Tousi University
Students at Tehran’s Khajeh Nasireddin Tousi University staged a protest gathering on Monday in front of the university’s main office, according to Daneshjou News. The protest was against pressures imposed by the Iranian regime’s agents who are preventing access to the dormitory. Students declared that they will continue with their protests unless their demands are met.
Murdered prisoner’s mother dies after self-immolation
The mother of a prisoner who was recently killed at an Iranian prison died this week at a hospital after she set herself on fire.
Bahman Massoudi was held at Oroumieh’s central prison. He was killed under torture and in solitary confinement after a guard, identified as Khanzadeh, struck him in the head with a baton.
In protest to the torture and murder of her son, Mr. Massoudi’s mother later set herself on fire. She died this week as a result of her injuries.
