Iran: Death of a political prisoner stirs worldwide protestNCRI – The murder of Valiollah Feiz-Mahdavi, a political prisoner who was jailed in 2001 for his support to the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran, stirred widespread protests across the world.

Feiz-Mahdavi, 28, was on hunger strike when he was murdered by the regime’s henchmen in Gohardasht Prison, West of Tehran, on September 6.

His death raised concerns over the plight of political prisoners in Iran. Human rights organizations condemned Feiz-Mahdavi’s heinous murder and called for investigations into his murder.

Iranians and supporters of the Iranian Resistance staged rallies and demonstrations across Europe, the United States, Canada and Australia calling on the United Nations Secretary-General, UN Human Rights Council, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and all human rights organizations to immediately condemn this barbaric crime and take action to save the lives of other political prisoners. They also called for an international delegation to be dispatched to Iran to investigate the plight of Iranian political prisoners and the execution of Feiz-Mahdavi’s five years after his arrest.
