International organizations condemn executions in Iran

NCRI – Four international human rights organizations issued a joint statement calling for a halt on execution of political prisoners in Iran and to save the life of Valiollah Feiz-Mahdavi.

The Arab Committee for Human Rights, the International Committee to Revoke Capital Punishment, Global Justice Organization and the Association against Violence in Exile expressed concern over the escalation of executions in Iran that are constantly occurring in Iran including political prisoners.

They said: "After the execution of Hojjat Zamani (a member of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran) in February, it is now Valiollah Feiz-Mahdavi who is facing the gallows. He is currently being held at Gohardasht prison in Karaj, west of Tehran."

The joint statement also says: "According to new information published by Amnesty International and the Iranian opposition, Feiz-Mahdavi has been threatened to death several times. The official death warrant was issued on March 24 and the date for execution is set for May 16. It is said that Feiz-Mahdavi was obliged to sign his death warrant."

Feiz-Mahdavi, 28, has been sentenced to death for supporting the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran which is banned from exercising its rights in Iran. He has been in prison for the past 5 years.
