Former U.S. Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean and former Algerian Prime Minister Sid Ahmed Ghozali were in Geneva on Tuesday to lend their support to Iranian opposition National Council of Resistance of Iran.

At a conference held in Crowne Plaza, Howard Dean discussed the situation of Iranians living in Camp Ashraf, northeast of Baghdad. They will not be protected after the departure of the U.S. military.

For the past several months, the NCRI has campaigned to mobilize the international community. Howard Dean believes that political leaders should not ignore the calls.

“The Iranian regime is a tyrannical regime that tortures its people and spreads violence in the Middle East,” the former Democratic party chairman said.

Sid Ahmed Ghozali denounced “the conspiracy of silence” about what is happening in Iran.

“A religious dictatorship rules Iran that exploits Islam in the most hideous way,” he said.

Like Howard Dean, he is convinced that the wind of freedom that is blowing across the Arab world will eventually reach Iran.
