Hoshyar Zebari: Iran seeks to spread its clout in Iraq by influencing Shiites

Iraqi news agency: Gathering of thousands of Iraqis in Ashraf City to support People's Mojahedin Organization of IranNCRI – Iraqi Kurdistan TV reported on June 17 that in remarks before the U.S. Foreign Relations Council in New York, Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari said, "Iraq’s neighboring countries do not cooperate with Iraq as they should and some of them even back the terrorists." Zebari stressed, "Iran seeks to expand its clout in Iraq by influencing the Shiites."

Mr. Zebari was quoted by the Kurdish program of the Voice of America saying "the new government of Iraq provided Iran with documents on its various ways of meddling in Iraq."

Iranian regime is becoming increasingly isolated for its widespread terrorist meddling in Iraq and this was reflected in a declaration by 5.2 million Iraqi who called for eviction of the mullahs’ agents from Iraq. They also gave their strong support to the People’s Mojahedin of Iran based in Ashraf City, northeast of Baghdad as the major obstacle to mullahs’ expansionist plans in Iraq.
