German personalities welcome recent BfV report against regime’s intelligence activities

German personalities welcome recent BfV report against regime's intelligence activitiesNCRI – German prominent figures and sympathizers of the Iranian Resistance and the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) have welcomed a report this week by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV), which exposed the concentration of the Iranian regime’s espionage activities against the PMOI and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI).

Lawmakers sympathetic to the Iranian Resistance also reiterated the significance of the victory of the Iranian Resistance’s political and legal campaign, which led to the removal of the PMOI and the NCRI from the BfV’s list of foreign extremist organizations. Professor Hassemer, former Deputy Judge at the Supreme Court of Germany, which is the country’s highest judicial authority, had written a legal opinion which contributed to the removal of the PMOI and NCRI from the list.

Ms. Hille Gosejacob-Rolf, Chairwoman of the German Committee for Solidarity with a Free Iran, which represents dozens of members of the Bundestag, said, “Our long and arduous battle was successful.”

Ms. Gosejacob-Rolf, who is also the Chairwoman of Germany’s Social Workers’ Union, added, “This was an extraordinary achievement and is beyond anything we can explain in simple terms. I think this was the result of two main factors: First and foremost, the exemplary and valuable legal opinion of Professor Hassemer; And, second, the relentless and untiring activities which we launched together.”

For my own part, Ms. Gosejacob-Rolf added, “I wrote to all interior ministries of German states and Mr. de Miziere, the German Interior Minister. We had to talk decisively in this regard and press on our rights. We had to show that the BfV blacklisting of the PMOI and NCRI was not a democratic approach to a resistance movement and that the BfV reports were not acceptable.”

Ms. Gabriele Hiller, a German parliamentarian, congratulated the Iranian Resistance and the PMOI for having the unjust limitations finally removed and added, “I am very pleased that the PMOI can now freely conduct its activities as a political organization in Germany.”

Mr. Wolfgang Holzapfel, the Chairman of the June 17th Human Rights Association in Berlin also welcomed the fact that the BfV annual report has targeted the real terrorists and extremists in the form of the clerical regime and its intelligence agents instead of those who work for freedom in Iran. He said, “We never understood why a resistance organization against a terrorist regime was included in BfV reports, effectively equating those who campaign for freedom with terrorists.”

“It was incumbent upon politicians to rectify this and they had to do it sooner. It was our request for years, particularly the June 17th Association’s request, which also participated in the hunger strike for Ashraf and had demanded the removal of the PMOI from the BfV list. We are extremely pleased that the PMOI and the resistance against the Iranian regime have been delisted. This will result in more support in the future for those who are resisting against this regime in Germany.”
