Geneva sit-in goes on against Iran regime's terrorist meddling in IraqNCRI – Protests against mullahs’ regime meddling in Iraq and its ploys to exert more pressure on People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran based in Ashraf City, Iraq, continued in Geneva today.

On its eighth day, participants in the sit-in outside the UNHCR’s headquarters in Geneva received wider support from political and human rights figures as well as general public. In the past few days several delegations met with officials of the UNHCR expressing their concern over the statements by Iraqi authorities who have called for expulsion of PMOI members from Iraq under pressures exerted by the Iranian regime.

A delegation comprised of families of PMOI members residing in Ashraf City handed over a letter of protest against mullahs’ interferences in Iraq and its terrorism in that country on Monday. They called on the UN body to intervene to safeguard the rights of PMOI members in Iraq as protected persons under the Fourth Geneva Convention and reaffirm their political refugee status in that country. A number of other delegations have already submitted similar letters to the UNHCR raising their concerns and expectations from the international body.

A number of political figures and organizations in Iraq have also denounced mullahs’ regime meddling in Iraq and underlined the legal rights of the PMOI members to stay in Iraq as political refugees.
