Geneva sit-in condemns Iran regime's threats to PMOI in IraqNCRI – In protest against mullahs’ regime meddling in Iraq and threats to its main opposition based in that country, a group of Iranians and supporters of the Iranian Resistance started a sit-in outside the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Geneva on Wednesday.

Participants in the ongoing protest denounce remarks by Iraqi authorities who have called for expulsion of PMOI members from Iraq under pressures from Iranian regime.

In recent weeks the water pipelines to Ashraf City, home to thousands of PMOI members have been blown up twice by terrorist agents of the clerical regime cutting off water supplies in the heat of 50 degrees centigrade. Hundreds of Iraqi families are also affected leaving women and children in a desperate situation.

An exhibition displaying cases of gross human rights violations in Iran is also set up at the location of the sit-in which unveils the horrific situation under the rule of religious fundamentalism ruling Iran.

A delegation comprised of families of residents of Ashraf City met with officials of the UNHCR on the first day of the sit-in to explain about mullahs’ conspiracies against the PMOI. In their meeting, they emphasized on the need for reaffirmation of the refugee status of the PMOI members in Ashraf as they have been living in Iraq for some 20 years.
