Geneva: Iranian opposition protest continued on 1052th day

Iranians continue their months long campaign calling for protection of Iranian political refugees in Camp Liberty, Iraq, and freedom of seven Camp Ashraf residents taken hostage by Iraqi forces.

On Friday, March 14, supporters of the Iranian Resistance in Geneva gathered outside the United Nations headquarters in the city to protest against the silence and inaction by the UN regarding the plight of Iranian dissidents in Camp Liberty in Iraq.

The protesters called on the United Nations to break its silence on the massacre of Iranian opposition members in Camp Ashraf by Iraqi forces of Nouri al-Maliki.

On September 1, 2013, the Iraqi forces attacked Camp Ashraf and killed 52 members of Iranian opposition the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and abducted seven residents including six women.

Many of the victims were executed with their hands tied behind their backs, others while receiving treatment in the camps medical centre. The government of Iraq secretly buried the bodies of 52 massacred Camp Ashraf residents, slain during the 1 September 2013 massacre.

The objective of this secret burial was to destroy the evidence of a crime against humanity and to protect the perpetrators from justice.

Among the protesters are members of families of Iranian dissidents in Camp Liberty which have been target of missile attack by the agents of Iranian regime with cooperation of Iraqi forces.

The protesters asked the United Nations to protect residents of Camp Liberty as it had made a commitment.
