NCRI – On Monday, France’s Channel 3 TV said in a report on the funeral of Iranian ‎singing legend Marzieh that, “Marzieh was not only praised for her songs and music. In ‎‎1994, the shining icon also joined the exiled resistance movement and its President-elect, ‎who today honored her memory.”‎

‎“In reaction to Marzieh’s decision to join the resistance, the Iranian regime imprisoned her ‎daughter.”‎

The French TV added, “Iranian exiles flocked to the town of Auvers-sur-Oise from all ‎over Europe to lay to rest one of the most famous Iranian singers near the grave of ‎Vincent van Gogh.”‎

‎“Marzieh, who passed away at 86, has been compared with the likes of Édith Piaf and ‎Maria Callas. She had performed in front of world leaders, including former French ‎President General de Gaulle.”‎

The TV report quoted Afshin Alavi of the National Council of Resistance of Iran as ‎saying, “Despite all the pressures the Iranian regime put on Marzieh and her family, and ‎despite the regime’s attempts to take hostage (her family members), she never backed ‎down.”‎
