French magistrate threw out terrorism charges of PMOI members

Reuters – National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCR) leader Maryam Rajavi (C), lawyer William Bourdan (L) and French politician and terrorism specialist Yves Bonnet (R) attend a news conference in Paris May 13, 2011.

A French magistrate threw out terrorism charges against about 20 members of an exiled Iranian opposition group on Thursday after eight years, the group and a judicial source said.

The charges go back to a 2003 crackdown on the People’s Mujahideen Organisation of Iran (PMOI), the main faction within the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), that saw 150 arrests leading to protests across Europe in which several people set themselves on fire.
