In a statement to the British Secretary of State James Cleverly, the British Committee for Iran Freedom (BCFIF) parliamentary group addressed the clerical regime’s Judiciary indicting 104 members of the pro-democracy opposition group, the Mujahedin-e-Khalq Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), as announced on July 29, 2023.

According to the statement, the regime’s strategy involves intensifying domestic suppression and executing opposition members while also attempting to use these indictments to manipulate Interpol and intimidate Iranian opposition figures abroad. Citing the regime’s history of presenting false evidence to Western governments to restrict the activities of the Iranian pro-democracy opposition, BCFIF highlights that the move coincides with the anniversary of the 1988 massacre, where approximately 30,000 political prisoners were executed for their affiliation with the MEK.
