BinleyI want to first of all condemn in the strongest terms the upcoming visit by the Iranian regime’s fanatical president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to New York. The United Nations is no place for a fundamentalist dictator.

I am very glad to hear that the Iranian people are planning to make their own representation to the UN by holding a major rally outside the General Assembly headquarters against Ahmadinejad’s visit.

I fully support the rally by Iranians in New York against Ahmadinejad’s presence.

Throughout the years, my Parliamentary colleagues and I in the British Parliamentary Committee for Iran Freedom have strongly support the Iranian Resistance coalition led by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi and the brave 3,400 Resistance members in Camp Ashraf in Iraq.

Since the major anti-government protests that began in Iran last summer, we in the British Parliament have been calling on the British government and the United Nations not to recognise the Iranian regime, and we have urged Britain and the European Union to cut all bilateral diplomatic and trade ties with the regime.

I now call on the UN General Assembly to refuse the regime’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad a platform to continue his barrage of inflammatory remarks against the Iranian people and the international community.

The Iranians that plan to protest outside the UN headquarters are the true representatives of the people of Iran at the world body.

I, like them, will continue my support for the People’s Mojahedin Organisation of Iran in Camp Ashraf and the National Council of Resistance of Iran, led by Mrs. Rajavi.

I fully support Mrs. Rajavi’s “Third Option” for democratic change by the Iranian people and their organised Resistance, and I believe that is the only practical solution to the Iranian crisis.

I also would like to send a message to the brave millions in Iran striving for regime change: the international community stands with you, and we will continue to press your cause at every available opportunity until Iran is free.

Thank you

Brian Binley MP
