Abdolrahim Afroogh told Basij members in the city of Dashtestan, in southern Iran: “In the supreme leader’s opinion, the major fallout from the elections will come in three areas: political, economic, and security. We have to be on top of these and be prepared to confront them.”
He added: “The economic sanctions are a major tool of the enemy and it uses them at different times.”
Also during the Friday sermon in Khomeini-Shahr, in central Iran, the government appointed prayer leader called on the city and provincial officials to prevent the formation of any queues for basic necessities, since the queues provide grounds for MEK supporters to agitate against the government. Queues for food, fuel, and other basic needs are everyday occurances in Iran as a result of the economic crisis.
