ambassador of Belgium in Tehran to protest against Tuesday’s visit of the
Iranian opposition figure, Maryam Rajavi, to the Belgian Senate. She was
welcomed by the Senate President, Anne-Marie Lizin, and several senators,
according to the Belgian Foreign Affairs Department.
The Iranian authorities stated that Maryam Rajavi was a member of the People’s Mojahedin, the armed wing of the Iranian Resistance, which appears on the European list of terrorist organizations. Yet it did not
brandish the threat of sanctions, a spokesperson of the Federal public services for foreign affairs said.
Mrs Rajavi, who lives in France, does not namely appear on the list and is greeted as the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, he indicated.
