“The European Parliament in a statement that was issued in this regard condemned the threats by some Iraqi officials to cutoff supplies of food, water, and fuel to about 4000 members of the Iranian opposition living in Iraq. These people have been living in Iraq since twenty years ago as political refugees, and in accordance with the international laws are considered protected persons under the Fourth Geneva Convention,” The website wrote.
“This step is in response to attempts by Tehran through its allies in Iraq to expel the Iranian opposition organization,” Al-Malaf added.
Al-Malaf continues, “The European Parliament also warned the international community of a humanitarian catastrophe in Iraq. The European Parliament expressed support for the rights of millions of Iraqis who have been displaced during recent years since the American invasion of Iraq in 2003.”
