Iran: Rafsanjani warns about dangerous state of the regime

NCRI – Feuding within Iran’s ruling elite reached new heights on the eve of the election as former president of the Iranian regime Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani warned of the ‘dangerous state’ of the regime.

Rafsanjani said the ‘mismanagement and extremism’ was paving the way for more crippling sanctions by the international community.

He said: “The current state of the regime is very dangerous and our leaders must understand the demands of the young and return the country to its rightful place, instead of setting the stage for more sanctions by mismanagement and extremism.”

Rafsanjani also attacked the way in which he was disqualified from standing in election by the Guardian Council.

In a clear reference to the intelligence minister Heydar Moslehi, he said: “A senior security official contrary to the law and protocols personally took part in the session of Guardian Council, and finally told the Guardian Council that my presence in the election could result in a victory for me, and that this is not compatible with their policy.

“Therefore he convinced the council to disqualify me on the pretext of my physical condition.”

Rafsanjani aiso published a letter of support for him on his website signed by 200 clerics in city of Qum, and stating: “Rafsanjani’s qualifications were approved by Khomeini.”
